Dance is a physical activity that combines feelings, emotions and culture, it is practiced in various international contexts. Due to the above, it is important to evaluate the impact of the practice of dance in daily life. For this reason, the objective of this study was to analyze whether there are differences in the type of motivation among students based on their gender. The methodology had a quantitative, cross-sectional and non-experimental design, the participants were 49 students from the Hermanos Flores Magón High School of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa (northern Mexico), 45 women and 4 men who are M= 19.96; SD= 0.200. For data collection, the Sports Motivation Scale was applied, which is composed of 28 items divided into intrinsic, extrinsic and amotivation motivation. The analyzes performed were Cronbach's alpha, kurtosis, descriptive and t-student test for independent samples. The results indicated that the instrument had good internal consistency and that there were no significant differences in the means of satisfaction between men and women. Additionally, it was found that students have a tendency towards intrinsic motivation. It is concluded that it is necessary to carry out more research in the field of dance, in order to strengthen, through scientific support, the importance of dance in everyday life, which could undoubtedly impact the management of spaces and material resources.
