Psychoanalytic approaches of the double in Héctor Galmés’s fantasy short stories

Abstract

The writing of Héctor Galmés —Montevideo, December 21, 1933 - Montevideo, Januray 12, 1086—, which can be positioned in what Omar Nieto describes as the modern fantasy, shows a particular concern, especially in his short narrative, for the issues linked to the double. Taking a tour of the author’s stories that address this issue, the following work attempts to provide some theoretical inputs for interpretation, taking contributions from Omar Nieto, Rosemary Jackson, Jacques Lacan and Carl Gustav Jung, among others.
