This exploratory study has the objective of knowing how students perceive academic mobility in their education. With this in mind, students from two educational programs of the Universidad Veracruzana were compared: English Language and Pedagogy.
We start from the assumption that English Language students are more interested in carrying out international mobility because for their professional performance they need to have a greater command of a second language and assimilate the culture of the countries that speak it; while for the Pedagogy students, this process will not be so important for their education.
The research was qualitative, from the theory of social representations. Iramuteq software was used to analyze the interviews.
According to the preliminary results, the assumption raised is partially verified, since in fact English Language students are more interested in carrying out an international activity, as part of their academic training, mainly in international mobility. According to the information collected, several of them were already planning to do it and some of them will even do it during this year. Meanwhile, the Pedagogy students were undecided since they do not have skills in a second language; nevertheless, they expressed their desire to carry out academic mobility at an international or national level.
