Public communication of science contributes to the important task of incorporating scientific knowledge into everyday practice, with the aim of contributing to social welfare and improving the quality of life of people. Science must be installed in public opinion to improve the relations of the individuals with their environment, adjust the image of the world to their reality, restructure their habits and attitudes, and bring about changes in their social behavior. The university has the responsibility of generating and disseminating knowledge derived from research as a substantive function, in order to reach citizenship, contributing to its scientific literacy and influencing public awareness as a way to reach development as a society. Scientific journalism is the alternative to transmit the findings of science in an understandable and attractive way for society, in such a way that the scientific journalist becomes an interpreter of the discoveries and an agent of social control, intermediary between society and the political power.
