Desmesura de los zoológicos (1987), by the Uruguayan writer Ricardo Prieto, is a collection of stories which presents a complex framework that mixes nomadism, mutation, as well as science fiction; all of which spring from the idea of the excessive and the image of the zoo. The nomadic strategy of the metamorphosis of bodies converts Prieto´s narrative into “narrative of the mutant”. It rejects the discursive hegemony of “the human”, and it poses a chaotic, dystopian world within a science fiction field. The stories “Un poquito de sol para mi habitación oscura”, “Desmesura de los zoológicos” and “Venganzas del porvenir”, from the book Desmesura de los zoológicos, illustrate the previously said. Thus, in this article we will explore these three stories and how they represent the nomad and the mutant, as well as how they connect with the genre of science fiction
