This article takes as research inputs the notes in a field diary carried out during 2021 and 2023 at the “La Esperanza” Women's Social Reintegration Center in Tepic, Nayarit (Mexico). Through the ethnographic method, mainly field observation and dialogue with women deprived of their liberty, categories of sociocultural, aesthetic and socioeconomic value were identified in the prison space. This space is characterized by being functionally flexible and changing due to socio-spatial dynamics, which reconfigure it depending on the activities, schedule, day, weather and calendar celebrations. The same physical space can acquire different categories of value, because particularly in prison where spaces are limited, it is not the physical dimension that symbolizes it, but the social processes that occur in it.
