Abstract
In this editorial note for the scientific journal Debates por la Historia, corresponding to the second semester of 2026, we address a theme driven by the absolute pleasure of sharing novelties that come to refresh and oxygenate the discipline we are passionate about: the history and historiography of education. For connoisseurs and seasoned scholars in the field of history, it will come as no surprise that our title quotes a text by Professor Ankersmit. His full name is Franklin Rudolf Ankersmit, born on March 20, 1945, in Deventer, Netherlands. Our subject studied hard sciences such as mathematics and physics at Leiden University before shifting directions to pursue the humanities—the very field we write about today and which forms a major part of his vast legacy. At the University of Groningen in the Netherlands, he studied philosophy and history. The title of his doctoral dissertation was "Narrative Logic: A Semantic Analysis of the Historian's Language," and in 1986 he was elected a member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences. Such is the stature of the theorist gracing our editorial today.
