The studies on source-sink relations trough the stolon in strawberry are essential to configure efficient suspended-stolon systems. This research analyzes the importance of the mother plant and the plantlets to produce good quality crowns in a hydroponic suspended-stolon system. Plants of the strawberry ‘Festival’ were plated in April 2018 in a PVC plastic channel raised to 1.7 m height. After 239 days, 16 plants five runners each with at least four plantlets per runner were randomly selected. Dry weights were obtained from the root, crown, and leaves and regression analyses were done. Crown weights were superior or similar to those reported by different authors. The coefficient of determination showed a positive effect of the mother plant roots (R2 > 0.5), but not of its photosynthetic apparatus (R2 < 0.07), on the weight of the crowns from plantlets 1, 2, and 3. Also, the photosynthetic apparatus of the plantlet three is important to the crown weight of each one of the plantlets in the runner (R2 > 0.71). As a conclusion, rooting of the third plantlet in the runner could be important to increase the number of good quality plantlets in a hydroponic suspended-stolon system.
