This paper is a reflective and interpretative approach to the possible implications and consequences of the use of breaking the fourth wall in the narratives of the digital media of expression within the Net: how it manifests itself in social networks and video games in line. The analysis effected is carried out from the perspective of philosophical hermeneutics, within the qualitative research methodology and the inductive paradigm.
It is considered that the use of this aesthetic technique can be interpreted as a form of appropriation of the narrative space by users, readers and/or players, regardless of whether the disruption is initiated or motivated by the senders or by the receivers, due to the intrinsic characteristics of the new digital communication media, which allow such a phenomenon to take place from both communication directions (emission and reception).
