La memorización musical en pianistas mexicanos y españoles

Abstract

This research focuses on studying the use of different types of memory strategies used by higher education piano students. A comparison is made between two groups of participants: Mexican piano students and Spanish piano students, belonging to two higher education institutions in Mexico and one higher institution in Spain. Specifically, learning to memorize your piano repertoire is addressed, using a questionnaire as a measurement instrument. The Analysis of Variance by average type of memory and country shows that the most significant differences were found in the categories of analytical memory and personal strategies for studying memorization. The results show that there are different emphases in the usual practices of memorization on the piano, between both groups of students in this research. On the other hand, significant differences were found by gender variable. The most significant results reflect that women use visual memory and analytical memory strategies more frequently.
