Infertility is a public health problem, the most common factor is anovulation. Here we describe a brief historical account of different techniques and hormones used. It is demonstrated its use with little knowledge, not an evidence-based medicine, its frequent and serious complications. In its application we alter the physiology of the axis hypothalamus-pituitary-ovary, with its consequences such as multiple pregnancies, prematurity, Ovaric Hyperstimulation Syndrom (OHSS), as well as very high costs.
