In the present study, the effect of the aqueous extracts (decoction and aqueous maceration) and ethanolic (ethanolic maceration) of two species of the genus Cylindropuntia was evaluated on the mycelial growth of Fusarium sp. and Aspergillus sp. under in vitro conditions. The extracts were made from the shoots of C. imbricata and C. leptocaulis, and added to Petri dishes at 10 %, 20 %, and 30 % to form an extract-nutrient agar culture medium. The culture mediums were inoculated with the different phytopathogenic strains and incubated for 10 days and the growth of the mycelium of each of the strains was measured in each of the treatments and concentration every 24 hours. The results showed significant differences between the plant extracts. C. imbricata presented the greater stimulation of mycelial growth than the obtained from C. leptocaulis. Aspergillus sp. was the strain that showed the highest mycelial growth, while Fusarium sp. presented a lower growth. Likewise, the ethanolic extract presented the higher percentage of mycelial growth, followed by the extracts obtained from the decoction and aqueous maceration. The concentrations of 30 % were those that showed the highest mycelial growth, followed by concentrations of 20 %, and finally concentrations of 10 %. We concluded that these extracts did not show an inhibitory effect on the growth of mycelium; on the contrary, the extracts of both species stimulated the growth of these two phytopathogenic fungi.
