In this article, an opinion is expressed about why the Mexican government, regardless of its partisan affiliation, should continue to support postgraduate students in the natural sciences. It also describes some of the challenges and opportunities that postgraduates face during their academic education, as well as the confidence that the investment in their education is not a lost fund, but the investment in human capital that will facilitate the country’s transition to the economy of knowledge, but above all, to the formation of a country with a broader and more conscious critical mass about its needs for technical and intellectual development.
