Abstract

Atomic Force Microscopy is a novel method for solid surface characterization. With this technique it is possible to obtain data such as roughness, porosity and nodules formation on the surface of materials. In this work, triacetate cellulose and activated carbon nanoparticles composite membranes were cast by solvent evaporation on different physicochemical conditions. Tapping mode in AFM was used to obtain images from height and phase contrast, to evaluate particle nanodispersion on the polymeric matrix. Generally, more homogeneous membranes were obtained at low temperature (35 °C) and high relative humidity (70% RH).
