The mitigation of gases that pollute the environment is one of the challenges of today’s society. Some economic activities are a source of emission of pollutant gases such as poultry; which has the highest concentration and emission of NH3 compared to other farms. This gas has repercussions on the development and welfare of birds; In high concentrations influences the proliferation of eye diseases, respiratory, and even contributes in the damage to the plantar pad of the chickens. In general, ammonia has an impact on air, soil and water pollution; generates bad odors, alters the pH and recycling nutrients of the soil, causes eutrophication and contamination of water, and in more serious situations affects human health. For these reasons, it is important to quantify the emission of ammonia in poultry farms through specific investigations, which will contribute to propose strategies that could reduce the ammonia emission and thereforethe effects that this gas causes on natural ecosystems.
