The treatment of glaucoma is through topical and systemic medications, laser, or surgery. Controlling inflammation is crucial for healing after surgery. Our objective was to compare the efficacy of using dexamethasone versus bromfenac as preoperative anti-inflammatory agents. We conducted a controlled, randomized, non-blinded clinical trial. Patients who visited the ophthalmology department of Culiacan Civil Hospital with primary glaucoma from November to December 2022 were included. Using a randomization table, they were assigned as follows: Group 1, ophthalmic dexamethasone 1.0 mg/ml; Group 2, ophthalmic bromfenac 0.9 mg/1ml; both administered one week before surgery. They were classified according to the Wuerzburg scale on postoperative days 7 and 30 to assess filtering bleb. Results: A total of 30 eyes were included, 15 in Group 1 and 15 in Group 2. The score in Group 1 on postoperative day 7 was 6.8±1.6, and in Group 2, it was 7.5±2 (p=0.267). On postoperative day 30, it was 6.5±2 in Group 1 and 7.2±1.7 in Group 2 (p=0.288). There was no statistical significance between the treatments; both were effective in the formation of the filtering bleb.
