Abstract

Lean philosophy is considered by worldwide manufacturing organizations as a crucial management focus to improve operative performance. This research is focused to know the adoption degree of Lean techniques in the manufacture maquiladora industry in Mexico. The purpose of this research is to analyze if Lean techniques have been adopted under an integral o partial approach, using as a research model the TPS house in the electrical and electronics maquiladora industry in México. From a sample of 83 maquiladora plants, Lean techniques are classified by a cluster analysis in plants with a partial or integral adoption and high implementation degree according to the research model. Results show evidence that most of the plants under study show a partial adoption of Lean techniques and a lower proportion of plants show an integral adoption with high implementation degree.
