Percepción acerca de las funciones y el nivel de conocimiento general en entrenadores de basquetbol en México

Purpose: to analyze the perception about the functions and the level of knowledge in general, in basketball coaches in Mexico. Method: 513 coaches 70 women (13.8%) and 438 men (86.2%) of basketball at the national level responded to a survey on perception of functions and general knowledge. Results 50.5% use general concepts of sports training, 37.2% of the coaches surveyed mention that they do not know many exercises and consider that they would like to learn and work with more of them. 67.6% coaches and the technical team consider that it is very important to know the role of anaerobic and aerobic physical condition in the performance of the players. 48.8% of the coaches frequently apply an offensive game system in their games, attacking the opposing team. 65.2% of the coaches consider that they have learning opportunities since they are key to being able to perform in a more optimal way. 78.8% consider that they have insufficient knowledge in the area of basketball administration and can be improved. 32.5% of the coaches surveyed have frequently used the research methodology and 29% between never and rarely.
Conclusions. Most of coaches consider that they would like to improve their knowledge, which is why it is an area of training opportunity in the area of sports training with its variants. Therefore, constant training for basketball coaches in the country is important.
