The paper approaches the work of the Uruguayan writer Paulina Medeiros through her only short-story collection Miedo, su servidor (1969) and specifically through “Nodrizas devoradoras”. As her work has been somewhat forgotten by the literary establishment, the main objective is to attempt the rediscovery a prolific writer who made her mark through her writings in various literary genres. From a contemporary perspective it may be seen that the fantastic, as a displacement of frontiers, is presented in this story by means of an inquiry into the monstrosity embedded in human nature itself
