An uruguayan-way phantom: an imprecise approach of Washed Tombs by Mercedes Estramil

In the novel Washed Tombs by Mercedes Estramil, the most convincing face of uruguayan society is revealed, even though accompanied by phantasmagoric elements that alternatively confirm and annul the presence of the fantastic. The present work consists in an approach of the discursive organization that the text builds from the incertitude, proposing as a starting point the study of two episodes from a psychoanalytic perspective: the concept of “archetype” by Jung and the notion of unheimlich by Freud. We will also consider the theoretical budgets of Omar Nieto, since he proposes that the fantastic system essence lies on the effect achieved from the narrative method, and how it is reached in the different paradigms.
