The objective of this study was to explore attributional styles and analyze sex differences among university students. The sample consisted of 779 participants, of which 401 (51.5%) were women and 378 (48.5%) were men, with a mean age of 20.52 and a standard deviation of 1.58 years. A descriptive survey design was employed, using the Attributional Styles Questionnaire in interpersonal relationships as the measurement instrument. Multivariate and univariate analyses of variance revealed that men tend to exhibit greater internal control compared to women. These differences were observed across all evaluated dimensions: internalization of failure in interpersonal relationships, attribution of success in interpersonal relationships to effort, externalization of success in interpersonal relationships, attribution of success in interpersonal relationships to ability, and externalization of failure in interpersonal relationships. In conclusion, the findings of this study indicate a significant relationship between the sex of the participants and their attributional styles, suggesting differences in how men and women perceive success and failure in interpersonal relationships.
