Abstract

Mexican writer Amparo Dávila's narrative depicts the single woman who, due to different circumstances, continues to live under the moral customs of the family imposed by the patriarchal model of thought that prevents her from living fully. The woman in her captivity as a single woman and mother-wife is conditioned in her family or work environment, or both, to conform to the expectations of the individuals around her. The women in these narratives perform a double job, at home and at work, which are a reflection not only of the era in which they were written, but which, unfortunately, can still be found in our time.
