Abstract

Anime is an audiovisual industry that has been in continuous global expansion, from Japan to the world. It has given rise to a particular culture, the otaku, of which many stereotypes are held. This study aims to describe the relationship between the levels of introversion, neuroticism, and interest in anime in a group of university students in the city of Cartagena de Indias, using data obtained through surveys to measure the level of consumption of these television programs and a personality test to measure psychological variables. The results of the statistical analysis showed that the subjects did not present such marked traits in these two personality factors, thus rejecting the research hypotheses concerning the high levels of introversion and neuroticism that consumers of this type of television program were supposed to have.
