Abstract

Science fiction literature showcases the recreation of multiple topics, and even more so as a narrative which calls for analysis and examination from a Latin American context. Therefore, this paper, through books like Teoría de la literatura de ciencia ficción by Fernando Ángel Moreno and Antología iberoamericana de la ciencia ficción by Sofía Rhei and Maielis González Fernández, soughts to explore the definition and characteristics of science fiction literature. In addition, the works, within the genre, that have been produced within the Latin American context will be examined, to identify and analyze the recurring themes. Through this, the relevance of the literary creation for the science fiction genre as a way to recreate and revise specific human events will be reaffirmed.
