Abstract

In Mexico, Rock Music is a cultural phenomenon which has been observed by academic researchers, journalists and musical critics. To analyze its development entails the need to try and bring an order to a literature which is meaningful and wide. To unravel the elements within the texts, becomes a challenge since it is necessary to provide coherence to the localized texts. Nevertheless, this task is pertinent for those who wish to ask questions to rock music. Taking into account that there are some researches which have worked on the state of the question for that which has been created within and outside of the academic field, these generally stay within a descriptive level, or fail to go in depth. This paper’s main objective is to conduct a historiographic analysis on the studies that have studied the Mexican rock music. Parting from the already existing texts, here it is sought to ask on what way they have contributed to the past development of the Mexican rock music and how that story has been understood, and interpreted, by researchers and writers.
