Transform or Die: The Urgent Need for Digital Transformation in Mexican MSMEs Post Pandemic COVID-19

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic brought with it the need to accelerate the digital transformation process in Mexican MSMEs; factors such as limited resources, lack of technical expertise or fear of change have prevented many MSMEs from not yet embarking on their digital transformation journey. However, by not embracing digitization, they risk falling behind their more digitally savvy competitors. The gap between those who have embraced digital transformation and those who have not is widening at an alarming rate. In this essay, we will explore the current state of digital transformation in Mexican MSMEs and analyze the impact of the pandemic on the acceleration of digital transformation in this sector.
