We are pleased to present the fifth digital issue of Ubi Societas Ibi Ius, an academic publication of the Faculty of Law of the Autonomous University of Chihuahua, which continues to consolidate itself as a pace for critical, plural, and interdisciplinary legal reflection. True to its open access spirit, this issue brings together national and international contributions that address, with depth and rigor, the contemporary challenges of law and its interaction with society.

In this edition, we feature the valuable contribution of Dr. Ricardo Franco Guzmán, a renowned Mexican jurist and professor emeritus at UNAM. He was recently awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa by the University Council and by our rector, Mr. Luis Alfonso Rivera Campos, on March 19, 2025. His article constitutes a highly relevant reflection on the need to unify criminal legislation throughout Mexico, providing substantive elements for a debate that remains relevant and necessary in the national context.

Along with this outstanding contribution, readers will find in this issue a variety of texts that invite us to rethink the role of law in the face of complex phenomena such as digital surveillance, the right to a good name on social media, the protection of personal data, food security in family proceedings, the regulation of extractive industries, the tax system from unconventional perspectives such as chaos theory, and the functioning of financial intelligence units in Mexico, among other topics. These contributions, reviewed through a rigorous peer-review process, reflect this journal's commitment to high-quality legal analysis and a critical perspective on the social, technological, and economic changes that impact contemporary legal life.
