Consumo de alcohol, tabaco y medicamentos no prescritos en cuidadores familiares: una revisión de alcance

Introducción. Actualmente la sociedad está expuesta a diversas formas de drogas como alcohol, tabaco y medicamentos no prescritos. Los cuidadores familiares de personas con enfermedades crónicas son vulnerables a altos niveles de ansiedad y al riesgo de consumo problemático de sustancias. Se considera necesario, examinar la evidencia científica disponible sobre el consumo de alcohol, tabaco y medicamentos no prescritos en cuidadores de personas con condiciones de salud crónicas, su relación con la sobrecarga del cuidado y su impacto en la salud de los cuidadores. Metodología. Revisión de alcance donde se realizó una búsqueda en 5 bases de datos en tres idiomas con 13 descriptores que fueron combinados y aplicados a los operadores booleanos. Resultados. Se seleccionaron 15 artículos que se clasificaron en 3 temáticas principales; consumo de alcohol, tabaco y drogas en cuidadores, estrategias de afrontamiento de los cuidadores y consumo de sustancias e impacto en la salud y comportamientos de riesgo. Conclusión. Los cuidadores familiares constituyen una población de riesgo para el inicio de comportamientos no saludables que incluyen el consumo de alcohol, tabaco y medicamentos no prescritos, este consumo está presente en mayor o menor medida en los cuidadores por lo que debe ser un tema que se explore y estudie a mayor profundidad.
