Abstract

Eccentric training is one of the methodologies that is currently gaining importance in strength training and its different adaptations such as maximum strength and hypertrophy, however, regarding its effects on muscle power there is very little research that are focused on your study. Objective: To analyze the effect of the eccentric training protocol on the development of muscular power. Method: A systematic review was carried out using the SCOPUS, PUBMED, SCIELO and GOOGLE ACADEMICO databases between march and april 2022 using the keywords: Eccentric training, Explosive force and Muscle power, with the Boolean AND operator. Out of a total of 760 articles, 14 were selected for this review, all were original and full-text articles. Results: The selected articles presented variety with the study participants, there were six that were performed in team sports athletes, three with students, two with strength-trained subjects, two with sedentary subjects, and one with track and field athletes; Four of the articles were contrasted against another type of training such as traditional and two against bilateral and unilateral exercises. After analyzing the studies, twelve articles showed improvements in muscle power. 65% of the articles are equal to or less than five years old after being published. In conclusion, eccentric training is an effective tool for the development of muscular power.
