Abstract

Introduction, in the last decade in Mexico the practice of cycling has increasingly more followers, due to all the qualities and benefits that using the bicycle represents, whether as a recreational, urban or competitive practice. Objective, to identify the knowledge that cyclists have of prevention measures in the use of bicycles and the practice of cycling. Methodology, a cross-sectional quantitative non-experimental design was followed, using a Likert-type scale to collect information. Results indicate that 83% of those surveyed have suffered an accident, in addition, 60.1% do not have an emergency plan in case of an accident caused by the use of a bicycle or the practice of cycling. Conclusion, the use of a helmet and other safety accessories is essential in preventing accidents and safeguarding the life of the cyclist, as well as considering an emergency plan in the event of an accident.
