Preventive measures in cycling and the use of the bicycle

Introduction, in the last decade in Mexico the practice of cycling has increasingly more followers, due to all the qualities and benefits that using the bicycle represents, whether as a recreational, urban or competitive practice. Objective, to identify the knowledge that cyclists have of prevention measures in the use of bicycles and the practice of cycling. Methodology, a cross-sectional quantitative non-experimental design was followed, using a Likert-type scale to collect information. Results indicate that 83% of those surveyed have suffered an accident, in addition, 60.1% do not have an emergency plan in case of an accident caused by the use of a bicycle or the practice of cycling. Conclusion, the use of a helmet and other safety accessories is essential in preventing accidents and safeguarding the life of the cyclist, as well as considering an emergency plan in the event of an accident.
