Introduction: The recruitment of sports talents is one of the most important aspects in the field of sports, In several Latin American countries there is not enough research for the development of standardized systems to help carry out this process and even the perceptions of coaches often present discrepancies. Objective: To analyze the perception of Veracruz coaches about the selection process of sports talents. Methodology: A survey was applied through Google Forms to 20 prominent coaches in the state of Veracruz. Results and discussion: the perception that coaches have about the process of identifying sports talents, is very varied and at the same time contradictory. Conclusions: From a conceptual or practical point of view, more research is needed to develop systematized processes to identify and guide future Mexican talents, optimizing time, resources and ensuring the development of high performance athletes.
