Abstract

The present work aims to discuss the role of the female figure in audiovisual media, specifically in the format of video games, as well as to categorize the roles they fulfill within them and their importance in the narrative; answering the following questions: in how many video games are women the protagonists? Why are physical features exaggerated? What is the functionality and purpose of the wardrobe? In the same way, it seeks to investigate the qualities of female characters and their background, to see how many women are in the condition of heroine, villain, damsel in distress, and in which they only hold secondary roles; in addition to explaining why there is a sexualization of these characters in society.
