This issue of Economicus Journal of Business and Economics Insights (JBEI) brings together eight contributions that, from diverse scales and approaches, engage in dialogue around a common problem: how development capacities are built (or blocked) in contexts of productive pressure, persistent inequality, socio-environmental transition, and digital transformation. This editorial offers an integrated reading of the works, identifies cross-cutting axes of discussion, and proposes a research and public policy agenda derived from the convergences and tensions within the volume. Economicus JBEI, in its Vol. 3, No. 1 (January–June 2026), proposes a journey that ranges from the macroeconomics of growth and structural change to the micro-foundations of labor well-being; from public policy on youth employment to the political economy of water; and from the strategic management of SMEs to digital markets mediated by platforms. Although heterogeneous in object and method, the contributions share a common concern: understanding the conditions under which economies and organizations generate sustainable capacities for productivity, inclusion, and competitiveness.
