Institutional frameworks, well-being, and regional development: contemporary challenges in Latin America

Abstract

The challenges currently faced by Latin American economies go beyond the traditional concerns of economic growth and macroeconomic stability. International organizations such as the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the World Bank have emphasized the need to strengthen institutional capacities, promote financial inclusion, improve public governance, and foster sustainable and inclusive territorial development strategies. In this context, contemporary economic development is closely linked to the ability of institutions to generate trust, coordinate collective efforts, and expand opportunities for well-being across individuals and territories. From this perspective, Volume 3, Issue 2 of Economicus Journal of Business and Economics Insights brings together research that, from diverse theoretical and methodological approaches, provides relevant evidence to understand some of the main economic, financial, and institutional challenges facing Latin America. The published works address issues related to financial stability, financial education, trade policy, social and solidarity economy, as well as transparency and accountability, thereby contributing to enriching the academic debate on the factors conditioning the sustainable development of our societies.
