Introduction: Physical education (PE) constitutes the foundation of motor literacy, key to the multidimensional development of human beings. In this sense, quality PE has been identified as an initial link in the path towards high sports performance (HSP). Objective: To synthesize the available scientific evidence on the relationship between quality PE and HSP, evaluating the methodological relevance of studies published in the last decade. Methodology: A systematic review was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines in four databases (Google Scholar, SciELO, Dialnet, and Scopus), including studies published between January 2015 and July 2025. An initial 250 records were identified; after eliminating duplicates and applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, 20 full-text articles were evaluated, of which 6 were incorporated into the final analysis. The methodological quality of the systematic reviews was assessed using AMSTAR 2. Results: Three studies presented a low risk of bias (quality systematic reviews), one a moderate risk, and two a high risk. The evidence converges on the idea that structured and well-designed PE programs enhance psychomotor development and talent identification, considered predictors of athletic performance in later stages. However, conceptual heterogeneity and a paucity of longitudinal studies persist. Conclusions: PE appears to be a determining factor in trajectories toward ADR. However, systematic and longitudinal research is needed to strengthen the evidence and generate recommendations applicable to public policy.
