Abstract

Abstract

Free time is considered a human right. Proper management of free time generates several benefits for students' physical and mental health, in addition to helping develop memory and concentration. This study, part of a larger study, aimed to identify the free-time activities of college students who participate in extracurricular activities such as marching band or color guard. The study was quantitative, non-experimental, and cross-sectional. A survey was conducted among college students, specifically from the National Technological Institute of Mexico (TecNM), who participate in civic extracurricular activities, both in the marching band and color guard. The survey was conducted to identify other activities they engage in as part of their free-time activities. A total of 673 participants were obtained from students from different technological institutions across the country. The Maurice Pierón Physical Activity Habits Questionnaire was used, which was computerized in Google Forms for easy administration and greater reach. The results show the activities students enjoy during their free time, highlighting the following: going to the gym (27%), followed by running (19%), and cycling (10%), among others, most of which are focused on physical activity and sports.
