"That's What History is, Jack!"

Abstract

The Metal Gear Solid franchise has been analyzed so much by amateur critics, more known as "content creatos," just like by a handful of academics, specially the second installment of this videogame series, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. However, despite the constant discusion regarding the concept of History inside its own narrative, not much has been said about how philosophically accurate are these statements that characters or beings in the game make, or what are the school of historiography that provide sustent to the claims made in the mentioned narrative. That is which this article will evaluate several lines of thought regarding the Theory of History, from positivism to postmodernism, just like it will check on various thinkers, some philosophers, like Hegel, Marx or Foucault, and other historians, like Bloch, White or Thompson.
