Abstract

In the present work we will realize a minimal exposition of the buddhist concept catuskoti through the definitions of Donald Lopez in conjunction with Robert Buswell and the one presented by Graham Priest, this with the objective of give a first look of it. Through this exercise, we will draw on, roughly: 1) the essential fundaments of Buddhism; 2) the nature of the thapaniya questions and his relationship with the catuskoti; 3) the origin of the catuskoti´s occidental name (tetralemma); 4) the operation of the concept in buddhism, giving an example of a conversation between Vaccha and Buddha, extracted from the Majjhima Nikaya.
