Educación financiera y bienestar financiero en México: evidencia de efectos diferenciados por género

Resumen

El bienestar financiero es un constructo multidimensional que refleja tanto la capacidad de los individuos para gestionar sus finanzas como su percepción sobre su situación económica. Aunque la literatura ha documentado una relación positiva entre educación financiera y bienestar financiero, existe menor evidencia sobre si estos efectos difieren entre hombres y mujeres. En este contexto, el objetivo del estudio es analizar la relación entre educación financiera y bienestar financiero en México, incorporando el género como factor moderador. A partir de datos de la Encuesta Nacional sobre Salud Financiera (ENSAFI) 2023, se estiman modelos de regresión lineal para evaluar el efecto de la educación financiera sobre cuatro dimensiones del bienestar financiero: resiliencia, seguridad, control y libertad financiera, así como posibles diferencias entre hombres y mujeres. Los resultados muestran que la educación financiera se asocia positiva y significativamente con todas las dimensiones del bienestar financiero. No obstante, los modelos con interacción revelan que estos efectos no son completamente homogéneos entre géneros. En particular, el impacto de la educación financiera es significativamente menor en las mujeres en las dimensiones de seguridad, control y libertad financiera, mientras que no se observan diferencias en resiliencia financiera. Estos hallazgos sugieren que la educación financiera, si bien es un instrumento relevante para mejorar el bienestar financiero, no actúa de manera completamente neutral al género. En consecuencia, el estudio aporta evidencia para el caso mexicano sobre la importancia de considerar el género en el diseño de políticas de educación financiera orientadas a reducir brechas en bienestar financiero.
