This article reflects on figure of the reading mediator in Mexico through a perspective that articulates its professional, ethical, and political dimensions. Drawing on the notion of dignity as a central analytical category, it is argued that reading mediation constitutes a craft practice of resistance and collective memory-building, whose institutional recognition remains insufficient relative to its actual social impact. The article further analyzes the role of the book as a cultural common good and the responsibility of the State in guaranteeing equitable access to it. The text proposes that the formation of an inner library, familiarity with diverse human experiences, and a commitment to inclusion are necessary conditions for the full exercise of reading mediation.
